erry does not merchandise very often; he is a writer and to him his writing is the most important thing to offer his fans. But occasionally, if a person or business is interested enough, he will sell the rights to produce merchandise. To date, he has only sold the rights for a 1995 PC computer game titled Shannara, the rights for Hollywood to produce movies of his Shannara and Landover novels, and the rights for talented artist Russ Charpentier to offer maps based on the Terry's Shannara series.
The PC game is no longer available in stores. And Hollywood is still deciding whether or not to produce live-action films.
Russ Charpentier and his maps are a different story. Russ has contributed all of the maps in the Voyage and High Druid trilogies and he has been given rights to reproduce them. There are four maps available, and all formats are high-quality. They are titled Four Lands, The Castaway's Map, Parkasia, and The Forbidding. Russ Charpentier writes: "It has been my pleasure these past several years to work with Terry through his publisher, to bring his vision of imaginary worlds beyond the mists of the horizon to life. I’ve always been a fan of these alternate realms of existence since reading the Dune series as a child. As an illustrator, creating Terry’s maps presented me with a unique opportunity to indulge my artistic fantasies in these new worlds. It is now my pleasure to offer these maps to Terry’s readers with the hope that you will enjoy viewing them - as they were meant to be viewed - as much as I have enjoyed creating them."

The 16"x24" Offset is an unlimited press run on a good quality 80lb. textured cover stock. The colors may fade in time as with all printed material exposed to indirect light. The paper is not acid free and may darken over time. They are not signed or numbered. It is a copy, like a calendar or greeting card, it is not expected to appreciate in value over time but should look great for many years to come if properly cared for.
The 20"x30" Giclee on the other hand is a limited, museum quality, hand pulled print, signed and numbered by Russ. They are produced one at a time, limited to a run of 100 and provided with a Certificate of Authenticity. The inks are brilliant archival quality and should not fade or loose their brilliance for 100 years if not exposed to direct sunlight. The paper is heavy weight Reeves BFK acid free water color stock and will not yellow over time. Each giclee, unlike the offset, costs much more to produce and is considered an "original". They are an investment and should increase in value with time.
