Terry Brooks Online Signing
Here is an update on the forthcoming Terry Brooks The Signed Page online signing.
I hope to get all of the books later this week, as bookstores will start selling them on August 18th. I will then set them up as soon as I get them and notify Terry they are in and ready for his autographs. Since Terry is traveling to Con Version soon, he may not be able to sign the books before he leaves. If that happens, he will sign them when he returns from the convention, around August 27th.
Also, those of you who are wishing signed copies, you better order them soon at The Signed Page. I won't be buying more copies after I do my initial pick-up later this week.
Technology is now making the book industry truly fun to behold. Why? Because now authors can literally video themselves at super low expense, put it on the internet(s), and let fans who would never have the chance to see the author in action at an event actually watch the author!
Terry visited the San Diego Comic Con last month. While there he was videoed by Suvudu as he took part in an hour long panel.
Here is Part I of VII:
Follow THIS LINK to watch the following six videos!
Terry will also be videoed later this month when he begins his tour for A Princess of Landover.
Terry sent an email this morning with two or three new additions to his upcoming tour. They include an event in Idaho, as well as an event in Utah! One more might trickle in from him about Idaho, but this is pretty much the tour he will be going on.
If you are within a two hour drive of one of these events, definitely go! Meeting Terry is always fun and he always signs all books brought him and answers all questions posed him. And, on top of that, he will be reading from Book #4 of Genesis! All the more reason to travel to see him!
And you can travel to see him. Because for this tour Terry is driving to all of these events. If he can drive to Utah from Seattle to see his fans there, you can drive to one of his events too! :) And I expect pictures taken and sent into the website! Yes, my precious, picturessss!
Every year Terry holds an online signing for his newest book on The Signed Page, a website devoted to helping fans who can't meet Terry on the road get signed or personalized books for cover price.
On late February and early March, Terry and his wife Judine traveled a world away to Dubai for the Dubai Literary Festival. Dozens of writers from all genres joined them! Terry had a great time there and, after touring the city and the United Arab Emirates, ended up with some great ideas for new book settings!
Here is Terry saying hi to the fans!
View more photos from the trip in the Pictures section of the website!
Terry will be attending several book festivals and writers conferences around the world in 2009. Visit the EVENTS page of the site to view the locations and events Terry will be attending soon.
The UK publisher has already decided not to tour Terry through the UK this year, wishing instead to market A Princess of Landover a bit stronger. Terry hopes to return to the UK in 2010.
Terry and the US publisher are in talks at the moment about a tour in September for the release of A Princess of Landover. If that does happen, expect signing dates and times and locations to be posted on the site in June.
While on tour for the release of his newest book The Gypsy Morph, Terry took some time to speak to the Santa Cruz public radio station KUSP in a live weekly show—and it has now become a podcast. Terry talks about how he got started as a writer, his Shannara series, the graphic novel, the Star Wars novelization and much, much more! Click HERE to listen to it!
Terry has been on the road and done four events. Pictures from each event are posted on the website under the new PICTURES link. Take a peek if you want to see what a Terry Brooks event looks like!
There were a few additional tour stops up in the air that have now been settled. They are posted on the Events page, primarily two events in middle California.
Furthermore, the September 20th signing at Fort Lewis WA is only open to people with military ID badges.
The Gypsy Morph wraps up the story arc begun in Armageddon's Children and The Elves of Cintra. No cliffhangers. No unfinished character stories. This is it and our world will never be the same again!
Be sure to visit the Events page to see if Terry is coming near you on tour in the next few weeks! And the website will have a few more videos uploaded for your enjoyment in the next few days.
The UK edition of The Gypsy Morph will be released in a week on September 2nd.
Terry will be visiting Arizona in mid-October for two signing dates in Tempe and Scottsdale. To view the information for the upcoming Gypsy Morph tour, visit the Events page!
As of July 29, 2008, The Elves of Cintra is available as a mass market paperback in the United States!
That also means there is only one month left until The Gypsy Morph is released in the US and a week later in the UK! If you haven't read Armageddon's ChildrenK and The Elves of Cintra, now is your time to catch up in preparation for the trilogy finale in The Gypsy Morph on August 26th!
And be sure to read the updated Events page. Terry may be coming near you!
As is customary when he releases a new book, Terry will be doing a US tour for the publication of The Gypsy Morph—this tour almost three weeks long!
Visit the Events page for a current listing of the bookstores Terry will be seen at. Several more signings could possibly be added to the page in the next two weeks, including events in cities Sterling IL, San Francisco CA, Sacramento CA, and Portland OR.
So what can you expect at an event? Terry treats his fans with utmost grace; a nicer writer you will not meet. He will do a reading from the forthcoming Landover novel, answer as many questions as he can during a Q&A, and he will stay and sign every Terry Brooks book brought him—and yes, that means you can bring your entire collection to be signed! Fans who wish to take pictures of Terry or video tape him reading and answering questions are welcome to do so—and can send both into the website to be officially posted!
Terry and I are flying out to New York on Wednesday and we'll be there through Sunday. Terry is going to promote Dark Wraith of Shannara at the NY Comic Con, the second largest comic con in the world. He is really looking forward to it.
On Friday, he is signing at the Midtown Comics booth. On Saturday, he is on a Shannara panel in the afternoon—along with his editor Betsy Mitchell and the graphic novel's writer Robert Napton—which will be followed by a two-hour autograph signing. For those of you in New York or are going to be at the convention, please stop by and say hello!
More information about Terry's appearances can be found on the Events page of the website!
With the Del Rey Newsletter going out two days ago, the website has been receiving a lot of email asking similar questions. Here are some of those questions and their answers:
Where can I find the short story Indomitable? Indomitable is the Shannara short story that takes place after the events of The Wishsong of Shannara, where Jair Ohmsford must discover a way to end the residual evil of the Ildatch—at perhaps a dark consequence to himself. It sets up the events of Dark Wraith of Shannara. The short story was released as part of a hardcover anthology titled Legends II, which also had a number of great short stories from some of the genre's best writers. A year after its release, Indomitable then appeared in the paperback Legends II: Dragon, Sword, and King. Ask your local bookstore for it or order it online from the various booksellers that make it available.
Will Dark Wraith of Shannara be released in hardcover? As of this moment, Dark Wraith of Shannara won't be offered as a hardcover. Sometimes if a comic book series or a graphic novel trade paperback do well, a publisher will produce a hardcover. Until we know how Dark Wraith is going to perform, we won't have any indication if Del Rey is going to produce a hardcover or let a small press publisher take a crack at it.
Will Terry be touring for the release of Dark Wraith of Shannara? He won't be. He is in the middle of writing the new Landover novel and can't be separated from his surrogate child—the new book. But he is doing two events for the graphic novel. Read the Events page for more information. And if you want a signed copy, visit The Signed Page for more information.
If you have any other questions, post them here under Comments.
A few days before Terry left for a trip to visit the French publisher, he sent in these answers to your January 2008 questions: January Ask Terry
There are some great answers in there, and some insight into what Terry is planning for the forthcoming Landover novel.
Since Terry is not in the US and won't be until mid-March, the answers to February's questions won't be posted until late-March.
On a final note, Terry will be in New York City on April 19th for the NY Comic Con. He will be promoting Dark Wraith of Shannara, but he will also have two signings at the convention—one after the event, one at the Del Rey booth. Shawn Speakman, the infamous WebDruid, will also be in attendance, in case you'd like to say hello.
Terry will be attending the New York Comic Con only on Saturday, April 19th, where he will be promoting the release of Dark Wraith of Shannara. He will be part of a large Author Panel on Shannara and will be doing a signing afterward.
Terry has three signing events for the release of Dark Wraith of Shannara:
The first is an event at University Bookstore in Seattle, WA on March 25th, 2008. These events are always a great deal of fun and Terry is looking forward to this one.
The second is for those who can't attend this initial signing. Terry will be signing and personalizing copies of Dark Wraith for fans via The Signed Page, the online signing website. If you want a signed or personalized copy of the graphic novel for cover price, visit The Signed Page. Order now, as only 300 copies will be signed!
And the third event is at one of the largest comic book conventions in the world, NY Comic Con in New York City. Terry will be attending this convention in late April with Robert Napton (adapting writing) and Edwin David (illustrator), along with many other comic book and movie professionals. More information about this event will be posted on the Events page of the website when it becomes available.
Just a quick letter to tell you about last weekend in Atlanta at DragonCon and the Decatur Book Festival.
Arrived with Judine on Friday night, Labor Day weekend, to find lodging at one the DragonCon hotels. Spent most of the weekend trying to get on an elevator to our room, but other than that things were pretty much okay. Attended the opening ceremonies that night, where David Weber, Bill Fawcett and I put our formidable talents to use in competition with some pros on answering DragonCon questions. We won, but the fix was in.
Saturday, Judine and I attended the Decatur Book Festival for a speech and a book signing. It was great fun with a church full of people who seemed interested enough to stay to the end. Hard to figure. Everyone was very nice and enthused about the new book and the series in general. I promised I would come back soon.
Saturday night was the obligatory banquet with awards given for different things, most of which I have lost track of. But we visited with other writers and some actors and had a good meal and conversation.
Sunday was a work day at DragonCon with panels, readings, autographings and a speech beginning at 10 am and not ending until close to midnight. All were well attended, even the 10 pm panel, which I would not have gone to if I hadn't been on the panel. Met lots of people, some of whom asked about your faithful Web Druid and his book. Okay, many asked. All in all, it was a joy to be there.
Thanks to Bill Fawcett and Chairman Pat and all the rest of the DragonCon staff and the staff of the Decatur Book Festival who made the experience so enjoyable.
We are off to England for the continuance of the book tour later this week. More when we return. Best to you all, Terry.

On August 28th, Terry had his first event for the release of The Elves of Cintra at a Barnes & Noble in West Seattle. It was a great event with a lot of very nice people. Here are two pictures of some of them; they traveled from three hours away to see Terry:

This last weekend was Dragon Con, one of the largest fantasy and science fiction conventions in the world. Terry attended the massive gathering in Atlanta, Georgia, where many fans came out to celebrate the release of The Elves of Cintra and to see Terry himself.
Terry autographed and read from Book Three in the Genesis of Shannara trilogy, as well as took part in several panels about the craft of writing and the fantasy genre.
Below are the first of what will assuredly be many pictures from this event. Enjoy!

As happens every year around this time, Terry was a part of two events here in Seattle celebrating the release of his newest book, The Elves of Cintra. Both events had dozens and dozens of fans attending them, and they were able to listen to Terry read from the untitled Book Three in the Genesis of Shannara trilogy as well as answer questions from the audience.
Here are some pictures from those two events:
Pictures from these events—as well as the events forthcoming—will be posted on the website. If you attend one of these events and you want your picture posted, send the pictures to shawn @ signedpage dot com.
Today, August 28th, is the official United States release date for The Elves of Cintra!

Note:The Elves of Cintra does not have cliffhangers, you'll be happy to know!
The book is the story of Knight of the Word Angel Perez and her plight to convince the Elves to save the Ellcrys and themselves in civilization's direst and darkest hour—all the while with demons surrounding her.
In a few weeks, Terry will be traveling across the Atlantic Ocean to visit the United Kingdom for the release of The Elves of Cintra by Orbit Books in the UK.
