Titles That Weren't Meant To Be

The End of The Gypsy Morph Chap. 25
 The website has been receiving a lot of mail (again, now that the paperback is out) concerning The Gypsy Morph and the end of Chapter 25. The chapter ends in mid-thought, with no punctuation. Terry planned this. It is in the original manuscript and it is in every other book out there. It is not a misprint or typo or error. I repeat: It is not an error. For those who want to know exactly what happened to that character, Terry asks you to go back and re-read the last few paragraphs leading up to the last sentence. It should become apparent what happened to that character. If it does not become apparent, feel free to visit the Forum where it is being discussed right now and learn the fate of that character and why the chapter ends as it does: The End of Chapter 25. The Gypsy Morph Paperback Released
The Gypsy Morph, Book Three in the Genesis of Shannara series, has been released in mass market paperback and should be in fine bookstores everywhere! On a related note, Terry is about a week from finishing Book #4 in the Genesis of Shannara series, which will be published in 2010. It takes place several hundred years after the events of The Gypsy Morph and has all new characters. I will be posting a video on Friday of Terry talking about the next Genesis book, where he reveals a few tidbits about what the story is about. He plans on jumping right into Book #5 in Genesis sometime in September. But for now, if you haven't finished reading the first three-book storyarc in Genesis of Shannara, go out and buy Armageddon's Children, The Elves of Cintra and The Gypsy Morph, all in paperback now! Genesis of Shannara #4
As the publication date for A Princess of Landover quickly approaches, it is also the time where Terry nears close to finishing the next book. This is just a quick update. Terry is only three chapters shy of finishing Book #4 in the Genesis of Shannara series. It is set several hundred years after the events of The Gypsy Morph and it is the first half of a two-book tale that tells the story of civilization's survivors. He is really happy with this first book of the duology. When Terry finishes Book #4, he will then immediately begin writing Book #5 and hopes to have both done and fully edited by next summer. #2 NYT Bestseller!
For every writer who makes it onto the New York Times Best Sellers List, it is a joy. Terry has done it countless times and each time it is special to him. It immediately correlates that people are reading his work and that makes him happy. This year it is even more special, as The Gypsy Morph will debut on the New York Times Book Review Best Sellers Fiction List at #2!! Only one book, Devil Bones by Kathy Reichs, sold more in hardcover last week in the fiction section. A Tour Update

In Bookstores!
That's right! August 26th is here! Terry and Del Rey Books have published The Gypsy Morph, Book Three in the Genesis of Shannara series! The book should be available in all fine US bookstores as of right now! The Gypsy Morph wraps up the story arc begun in Armageddon's Children and The Elves of Cintra. No cliffhangers. No unfinished character stories. This is it and our world will never be the same again! Be sure to visit the Events page to see if Terry is coming near you on tour in the next few weeks! And the website will have a few more videos uploaded for your enjoyment in the next few days. The UK edition of The Gypsy Morph will be released in a week on September 2nd. Apparently The Gypsy Morph has been seen and purchased in several different US bookstores across the country! Hardcover Arrival
There is a whole string of events that take place before a new release hardcover book graces bookstore shelves. After the book has been edited and its pages proofed by the author, the book file is sent to the printing press where thousands of the book roll off of a line. A certain amount of books go to the publisher's warehouse and the rest go to book distributors and online booksellers around the country. In the case of Terry's new book, copies of The Gypsy Morph will arrive in bookstore receiving rooms a day or two before the August 26th release date—and even sometimes the book is placed on the shelves a bit early. Today when I checked my mail, my hardcover copy of The Gypsy Morph had arrived. Below is a picture of it alongside my other copies of the Genesis of Shannara series.  The arrival of this book means some independent booksellers who are on Del Rey's mailing list will receive hardcover copies of their own. The Elves of Cintra Paperback
 As of July 29, 2008, The Elves of Cintra is available as a mass market paperback in the United States! That also means there is only one month left until The Gypsy Morph is released in the US and a week later in the UK! The Gypsy Morph Tour
As is customary when he releases a new book, Terry will be doing a US tour for the publication of The Gypsy Morph—this tour almost three weeks long! Visit the Events page for a current listing of the bookstores Terry will be seen at. Several more signings could possibly be added to the page in the next two weeks, including events in cities Sterling IL, San Francisco CA, Sacramento CA, and Portland OR. So what can you expect at an event? Terry treats his fans with utmost grace; a nicer writer you will not meet. He will do a reading from the forthcoming Landover novel, answer as many questions as he can during a Q&A, and he will stay and sign every Terry Brooks book brought him—and yes, that means you can bring your entire collection to be signed! Fans who wish to take pictures of Terry or video tape him reading and answering questions are welcome to do so—and can send both into the website to be officially posted! Terry Reading Gypsy Morph
September 2007 saw the release of The Elves of Cintra, the second book in the Genesis of Shannara series, which comes out in paperback later this month! As is customary for Terry when he does an event, he always reads from the book he is working on (ie. a book that is not yet in print). The same was true in September 2007, where he supported the release of The Elves of Cintra by doing events on the road but instead read to the audiences from The Gypsy Morph. The Gypsy Morph Excerpt

Book Three Title
From the moment Terry Brooks fans finished reading The Elves of Cintra, the website has received numerous emails asking what the title of Book Three would be in the Genesis of Shannara series. The original title Terry had come up with was too long, which led Terry and Del Rey to find a new title over the course of the last several months. That hunt is over—at least for the moment. The third book in the Genesis of Shannara series is tentatively titled: The Gypsy MorphAs some of you remember, this was one of the titles bandied about for the book that would eventually be titled Armageddon's Children. But The Gypsy Morph fits much better for this third book than the first one, and it will be published in late August 2008. The Gypsy Morph is longer than the two previous books and will have 410+ pages. It also wraps up all storylines from the first two books. The title could still change. But right now this is the title. A first glimpse of The Gypsy Morph will comes in March when Dark Wraith of Shannara is released. A small note of trivia: The cover of The Gypsy Morph will be the first time the connection between Word/Void and Shannara will be made obvious (the "gypsy morph" is from Angel Fire East and the word Shannara will be beneath it).
