August Ask Terry Posted

As many of you know, Terry was on tour at the beginning of the month when he would have usually answered the August Ask Terry questions.

But no fear! He has now returned home from the wilderness to Seattle and answered your August questions!

New Landover Finished

Terry has now finished the new Landover novel. His editor, Betsy Mitchell, has also finished reading the manuscript, edited it, and has sent it back to Terry for his consideration. As we speak, Terry is knee deep in editing for a few days. By next week, the next Landover novel will be completely finished and ready for publication.

So why can't the book come out now, you may ask?

That's not all that must happen. There is cover art to create, a marketing plan to... well... plan. And more importantly, since this is the first new Landover book to grace the shelves in over 12 years, Del Rey Books wants to do this right. Just like any other book, the new Landover #6 must go to the art department for cover art and book design—but it doesn't stop there. Del Rey will also be creating two hardcover omnibuses for the new release:

The first omnibus will include Magic Kingdom For Sale—Sold!, The Black Unicorn and Wizard at Large.

The second omnibus will contain The Tangle Box and Witches' Brew.

These will also require new cover art. The omnibuses will be released in August 2009, a month ahead of #6 in September 2009. More on this as it becomes a reality!

End of Chapter 25

The website has been receiving a lot of mail (more than 200 emails and private messages now) concerning The Gypsy Morph and the end of Chapter 25—page 285 in the US edition and page 283 in the UK edition.

The chapter ends in mid-thought, with no punctuation.

Terry planned this. It is in the original manuscript and it is in every other book out there. It is not a misprint or typo or error.

I repeat: It is not an error.

For those who want to know exactly what happened to that character, Terry asks you to go back and re-read the last few paragraphs leading up to the last sentence. It should become apparent what happened to that character. If it does not become apparent, feel free to visit the Forum where it is being discussed right now and learn the fate of that character and why the chapter ends as it does: The End of Chapter 25. #2 NYT Bestseller!

For every writer who makes it onto the New York Times Best Sellers List, it is a joy.

Terry has done it countless times and each time it is special to him. It immediately correlates that people are reading his work and that makes him happy.

This year it is even more special, as The Gypsy Morph will debut on the New York Times Book Review Best Sellers Fiction List at #2!! Only one book, Devil Bones by Kathy Reichs, sold more in hardcover last week in the fiction section.

A Tour Update

There were a few additional tour stops up in the air that have now been settled. They are posted on the Events page, primarily two events in middle California.

Furthermore, the September 20th signing at Fort Lewis WA is only open to people with military ID badges.
