Dark Wraith Review

A Dribble of Ink has got their hands on Terry's upcoming graphic novel, Dark Wraith of Shannara and just recently posted a review!

Here's a little of what they had to say:

"Brooks explores interesting territory with Jair's Wishsong, drawing parallels to drug addiction and it is as Jair struggles with a magic that is slowly eating away at him - but also necessary for his survival - that we find the true strength of the story and the character."

"...couldn't stop this Shannara fan from feeling slightly giddy at finally seeing the Four Lands brought to life visually and with a fun story to back up the pictures. This is one piece of fan service that Shannara fans won't want to miss..."

Dark Wraith Signings

Terry has three signing events for the release of Dark Wraith of Shannara:

The first is an event at University Bookstore in Seattle, WA on March 25th, 2008. These events are always a great deal of fun and Terry is looking forward to this one.

The second is for those who can't attend this initial signing. Terry will be signing and personalizing copies of Dark Wraith for fans via The Signed Page, the online signing website. If you want a signed or personalized copy of the graphic novel for cover price, visit The Signed Page. Order now, as only 300 copies will be signed!

And the third event is at one of the largest comic book conventions in the world, NY Comic Con in New York City. Terry will be attending this convention in late April with Robert Napton (adapting writing) and Edwin David (illustrator), along with many other comic book and movie professionals. More information about this event will be posted on the Events page of the website when it becomes available.

Dark Wraith Trailer

Here is the first of several really cool things that are being released here on the website.

Terry and Del Rey have released the trailer for Dark Wraith of Shannara. Dark Wraith is the 208 page graphic novel detailing Jair Ohmsford's seductive fight against the mounting power within, all the while trying to protect the Four Lands from a serious new threat. Robert Napton adapted Terry's story, and Edwin David supplied the artwork. The trailer has a lot of images of the graphic novel set to music and voice, and it is the first peek for fans of the Shannara series.

Right now, it is only available in .wmv format. Quicktime will come soon.

February will also see some new content from the graphic novel posted on the website. And in March, Dark Wraith will ship to comic shops and bookstores everywhere on March 25!

Visit the Dark Wraith of Shannara trailer by clicking HERE!

As for what else is coming, January 1st will see the next update: an audio file of Terry reading from Book Three in the Genesis of Shannara trilogy!

We hope everyone has been safe and continues to be safe during this holiday time!

The Shannara Director

Terry has announced the name of the Shannara movie director! It is located in the 2007 Holiday Letter!

His name is Mike Newell.

He has been a long-time director in Hollywood. Here is a list of his latest credits:
  • - Love in the Time of Cholera (2007)
  • - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
  • - Mona Lisa Smile (2003)
  • - Pushing Tin (1999)
  • - Donnie Brasco (1997)
  • - An Awfully Big Adventure (1995)
  • - Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)

As you can see, he has done a wide range of film: from comedy to fantasy to drama. He has a great range, and The Elfstones of Shannara will need that range to be fully realized.

Visit Internet Movie Dabtabase for more information on Mike, pictures, and his other work.

Front Page

There is something different about the website: the front page.

I have taken The Elves of Cintra cover down off of the website's front page and changed it over to the Dark Wraith of Shannara front page. Over the next few weeks, I'll be changing over the rest of the website to come in line with the vision I've had for the last year.

That means all pages will have the same design, and have updated content. Expect it to happen in steady increments. We hope you like it!

2007 Holiday Letter

Every year, Terry writes a Holiday Letter to the fans. In it, he usually goes into detail about what he is currently working on and other news that is of interest.

That letter is now posted. Visit the What's Next? page and then click 2007 Holiday Letter.

A few questions might arise after reading it. Here is some additional information he wanted me to throw in on the website:

  • Book Three of Genesis of Shannara does not have an official title yet. Terry and Del Rey are trying to find the best title possible. They will probably have it by the New Year though, so expect it some time around that holiday.

  • In a week, the Book Three page on the website will go active. Part of that page will be several audio files of Terry reading two different chapters from Book Three.

  • Around the New Year, Terry and I will be posting Chapter One of Book Three. It is a chapter that sets a definite tone for the entire book and it is one you all will enjoy, I think. It is not one of the chapters he read from while on the road for The Elves of Cintra.

  • Book Three is 35 chapters, the longest book of the trilogy.

  • We will be posting a few pages from Dark Wraith of Shannara sometime in the New Year.

  • Terry is currently four chapters into the next Landover book. He usually writes a Landover book between three and five months, which means he will be working on another book as well in 2008. He does not know which book he wants to write after the Landover book, but he knows it will be one of two options and he is remaining quiet about it.

More information will be posted on these various items of interest when that information becomes available.
