R.I.P Robert Jordan
James Oliver Rigney, Jr., writer of the New York Times bestselling fantasy series Wheel of Time under the pen name Robert Jordan, passed away earlier this week. He fought a devastating disease with honor and integrity, never giving an inch. He was 58 years old.
It is with great sadness we report this. Robert Jordan is a fixture in the fantasy genre. He helped reinvigorate fantasy and gave it an epic scope never before seen. The genre now has a gaping hole where a very good writer and better man once stood, and it will never fully heal—never be filled by another.

This is indeed sad news. I know this sounds selfish, but I was very eagerly awaiting the promised final volume to the Wheel Of Time series, as well as the two pre-quels that had been mentioned. The world will tearfully miss this gifted writer, who has left us with the greatest cliff-hanger of all...what will become of the Wheel?
I really enjoyed his Conan books when I was a kid. Of all the modern writers using Robert E. Howard's original material, I felt that his work had the most integrety. With the death of David Gemmell in 2006, it has not been a good couple of years for fantasy authors. Terry, please keep your doctor's appointments!
The death of Robert Jordan was a sad day. I grieve the loss of a great writer.
